About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a 13-week contract position in Springfield, Massachusetts. The RN will provide high-acuity critical care in a 32-bed Medical ICU and Neuro Critical Care environment , with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity .
Responsibilities
Assess, monitor, and provide comprehensive critical care nursing for medically complex and unstable ICU patients.
Manage high-acuity patients requiring interventions such as CRRT/CVVH, post-cardiac arrest care, advanced respiratory support, and continuous hemodynamic monitoring.
Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate timely critical-care interventions, emergency measures, and escalation of care.
Float to Medical HVCC, Surgical ICU (SICU), and Intermediate Care (IMC) based on staffing and patient-care needs.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals while maintaining safe, accurate, and patient-centered critical care.
Requirements
Active Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License Required.
Minimum 2 Years of ICU / Critical Care Nursing Experience Required; Level I ICU and MICU Experience Preferred.
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS Certifications Required.
Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Required.
Candidate Must Reside More Than 90 Miles From the Work Location and Be Comfortable With ICU Floating, 12-Hour Night Shifts, and Holiday Coverage.
